God, this is mass suicide. 

Commander Robbins watched the auditorium fill with his special task force, an elite team of the American Armed Forces whose sole purpose was to keep humanity from extinction.  

He glanced to his side, taking a deep breath as his eyes met those of his somber son.  The blue eyes gazing in his direction carried the weight of the world.  Commander Robbins slightly shook his head.  This is not your fault.  

Returning his attention to the auditorium, Commander Robbins scanned the murmuring crowd, drifting back to the day he found his son.
